How to adding texture to freeform shape

Hi, I am very new to touchdesigner and was trying to do some simple projection mapping. I created some uneven hexagons using the freeform tool and apply texture to it. Inside texture editing window, I noticed that the mask is still rectangle- looking which is strange because I would have expect the shape to be similar to the freeform I created. Because of this it’s hard to be exact with my mapping. Is this normal? Or am I missing something?

I’d guess that you’re missing a texture SOP in your pipeline somewhere.

That said, have you looked into kantan mapper? It’s in the palette and is a great starting point for doing easy mapping.
