solve the tentacle, top secret technique?

Hi , I’m noticed these shapes in some videos probably glsl stuff.
in middle of this video, you’ll see them

youtube.com/watch?v=nEmDLZAI4yE

super stuff by TAS (I know for a fact that its made with vvvv but can we do it with TD?)

I’m very curious to how its made. it looks like its using noise but also allows the tip of these tentacle to be wider than the base.

Vincent’s video for Max cooper under the sea with these polyps moving with the current is also a great enigma maybe related. THX

Fancy vertex displacement maps… not only in z, but also x and y

A basic example achieved using the example shader posted by Diatom somewhere in the forum

I did a version where the Displacement tentacle was driven by an IK chain. Might find that file if there’s interest.

thx bro

is that the one, I’d spot it before but somehow was not working on my pc, update must have fixed that.

Yes if you can dig that Ik chain file I might be able to combine all in something interesting.
I nailed the snake moves 6 month later you will be happy to know, I think it was your idea of using limit SOP.
it works wonders.
Now getting them to not collide is an other story.

I found a very interesting picture by hazard on the net, displacement in a weird way, check it out!
