Animation COMP performance drop

I have a network that is running at about 60fps, I decided to animate a few of the parameters over time (like fades, particle count, etc) and my performance has dropped down to about half the frame rate than before. Not cooking the animation COMP seems to bring the performance back up to where is was before.

Is there some technique that I’m missing or is the Animation COMP just a very expensive node computationally ?

Are you displaying the animation editor interface in your testing?
Or it may just be the fact that you are cooking more OPs per frame now by having them animated.
Have you used the performance monitor to see where the delays are?

Check out the probe in the Palette under Tools. It can help you identify which node is cooking the most, then we can help you in figuring out why.
