Basic Etherdream setup

This component is just a basic example that outputs tx ty and r,g,b color to your etherdream laser.

Note the 15kHz sample rate in the Pattern CHOPs. We have a cheap $600 laser here with a max scanner speed of 20Kpps. We found setting the sample rate to 15kHz had better results than running the full 20kHz. You may want to adjust the sample rate depending on the laser you are working with.

heej Ben,

Thx that looks brilliant … 1 question though

what do i need to take in mind if i want to trace the TD banana for example to output that …

cheers Ian

The Scan CHOP https://www.derivative.ca/wiki088/index.php?title=Scan_CHOP
will take any TOP texture directly and convert it to RGB channels suitable for output.
However I find better results in these cases, by using a Trace SOP https://www.derivative.ca/wiki088/index.php?title=Trace_SOP , and using those polygons as input to the Scan CHOP.

aa ok ill try that …because using only the scan chop didnt give me any good results

thx

cool …got a nice outline of the image …is there also a wat to get the inside filled ? and also how can i get the colors from the TOP ?
got some results here …traced from images and video …but imported fbx files are a pain…i get only a single line …maybe first and last point are on same row …tried sort SOP but no result.

thanks that helps a lot, I have been looking for that sort of info for weeks!

A note on this. If your laser output is just a bunch of circles, and doesn’t match the pattern on your screen you are trying to draw too many points. Either reduce the size or reduce the number of cycles.

Size - pattern9 - reduce Amplitude. A good value for me was .2

or

Number of Cycles - pattern9 - set to 5, pattern15 - set to 5.2

Using a laserworld cs-2000rgb with galvo upgrade.
