Touch Interactive Painting documentation

In completion of the class of 2008 USC SCA IMD MFA, S[t]imulation was a 12x8 foot interactive painting in which the texture of the actual painting was virtually processed in Touch and then projected back onto itself to scale. blog_image.jpgUsing frame differencing to do motion detection, the piece was designed to privileged calmness in the viewer, using motion sensing to disrupt the image. However, unlike a game, interactivity here was not intended to be indexical but rather exploratory. Here is some video documentation: vimeo.com/1120139?pg=embed&sec=1120139Jarrett was an centrally involved in setting up the animation pipeline, stimulate2.toe (28 KB), and he deserves a great deal of credit for his time as well as his patience. Because we used two projectors there is a certain redundancy in the pipeline here (also, to use this you’d have to supply your own tiff and aiff), but at base, i think that this is a very sound structure that i will reuse in the future. Thanks you Jarrett, Greg, Ben, and Malcolm for your faith and support.
