Media Systems Administrator: San Francisco

Obscura is looking for an experienced media systems administrator to help bring the creative vision of Obscura to life on a diverse mix of projects ranging from interactive large-scale projections to complex multi-display installations.
A general overview; the Media Systems Administrator will support the media department by helping to design workflow pipelines, maintaining the render farm, and monitoring rendering processes. The Media Systems Administrator also works with the systems infrastructure and software development teams to make sure the media departments’ workstations, servers and storage are running smoothly. This position will also work closely with the infrastructure/systems team to build and advance new scalable storage techniques.

Responsibilities:
-In-depth technical knowledge of AE / C4D / Render Pipelines
-Familiarity with Deadline render management software
-Understanding of codecs, compression and digital deliverable formats
-Familiarity with different rendering platforms like Octane, Vray, Physical, Etc.
-Ability to multi-task several deliverables with overlapping deadlines
-Manage and update render farm nodes with techniques to improve rendering and quality
-Practical understanding of SOFS systems (like ceph) and experience building and maintaining medium scale SAN systems.
-Work closely with artist to assure their renders are successful
-Problem solve workstation and software issues via ticketing system
-Install plugins, manage and maintain software applications
-Work with artists to find ways to innovate processes and improve quality standards
-Stay on top of the latest developments in animation and production software and technology to keep the department on the cutting edge
-Participate in media personnel infrastructure onboarding alongside IT administrators
-Help maintain a clear organization of media assets, purchases, and farm/workstation licensing
-Responsible for backing up projects after full completion
