Soft shadowing bug (creating shadow of non existing cube)

Postby kefon » Fri Aug 16, 2019 8:52 am

Hi, I posted this already in the beginners section (viewtopic.php?f=27&t=19743) and on the Facebook group. Apparently I'm not the only one having this problem and according to Malcolm "this seems to be a bug in the soft shadowing code".

The problem : inside a cube, I place a sphere and light turning around the sphere. The shadow of the sphere is correctly projected on the cube, but when the light is at the opposite side, the shadow of a cube appears. This shadow is not related to any geo in the scene and should not exist.

Here is a quick example showing the problem :

My pleasure. Also you will find that if you remove the sphere, the shadow of the cube is still there. So the problem is that a light inside a cube make this cube cast its own shadow inside itself...
Can't wait to see this problem solved! ;)
Thank a lot for you work guys
