RESOLVED: WIN 2018.24330 / GLSL MATs Slow

Hi Derivative team,

I just downloaded the newest update and found my project which uses lots of custom built GLSL MATs for particles and lines runs much slower. I uninstalled and reinstalled both 2018.23760 and 2018.24330 and can see the slowdown every time I open the project with 2018.24330.

I also tried multiple different parameters in my patch, to recreate the same cooks as best I could.

2018.23760 = GLSL MAT showed ~0.100ms CPU, Project showed ~11.00ms CPU
2018.24330 = GLSL MAT showed ~1.000ms CPU , Project showed ~54.00ms CPU

The GPU cooktimes are about the same. It seems CPU cooktime is what really skyrockets in the new update.

SPECS:
i7 7700HQ
16GB RAM
1070 (laptop)
Windows 10, 1803
ASUS ROG GL503VS

Thanks!

Hi RemySiu - I’m not officially on the Derivative team, but if I was them I’d probably love to see an example of what’s running slowly. Is there any chance you have a simple example of a shader that you can share where this issue presents?

Ya that’s definitely an issue. If you can post an example I should be able to fix that really quickly

Hiyo you two,

I’ve emailed the example to support@derivative.ca and have been communicating with Ben! Thanks for being so quick on this!

Remy

We found a fix for this issue, it will be in the next posted build 24400+
