Location: Interaccess, 950 Dupont St., Unit 1., Toronto ON
Cost: $360 Regular, $310 with Annual Studio/Workshop Discount Pass
Focus: Organised as a 3 part workshop, this series will introduce participants already familiar with the TouchDesigner interface to standard techniques of projection mapping and give everyone the chance to apply the acquired knowledge at the Big on Bloor Festival by throwing some light onto the façade of the Kent School. While the first session will be an introduction to all the tools available in TouchDesigner for mapping surfaces and buildings, the second part of the workshop will be spend in teams exploring and developing ideas for the final night. During the workshop each team will be given a projector and a surface to test-drive their creations. The final night at the Kent School will be spend with learning about the technical details and hardware requirements of the projection setup as well as approx. an hour per team to present and experience their final results.
This workshop is presented in partnership and with support from Big on Bloor Festival.

Title: TOUCHDESIGNER STUDY WEEKEND VOL6
Organizer: Yuki Narumi / Kodai Takao
Dates: July 21, 10:00 - 18:00
Location: Higashi-ginza workshop space
Experience Level: Beginner / Intermediate
Cost: Yen 2,000
Focus: TouchDesigner Study Weekend is a workshop series held in Japan twice in a month. Schedule: 10:30-13:30 Intermediate / 15:00-18:00 Constructing GUI with TouchDesigner.
Title: INTERACTIVE SCHOOL
Instructors: Ildar Iakubov
Dates: July 23 - September 5
Location: Planetarium 1, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Focus: The course was designed following problem-based learning methodology. Participants are going to be exposed to several case-studies in the intersection of interaction design, multimedia integration and entertainment. Guided by the course lead Ildar Iakubov, students will execute all the steps required to solve given problems. The case-studies are not rigid tasks, but more like open-ended proposals which suggest combining some of the newest technologies to create spectacular state-of-the-art interactive environments.
This speculative hackathon approach would be supported by program partners, providing their flagship products together with educators to run intense introductory workshops. One of the examples could be Leica Geosystems, bringing their new BLK360 scanner which would serve as a data source for the students, building a 10k*10k pointcloud viewing system on the 37 meter projection dome of Planetarium 1. Another case includes a guest visit to the FANUC education center where students supervised by hosting engineers will build a VR interface to control industrial robots remotely. Based at the Yota Lab, the course is packed full with all the gears you can imagine inside a project - sensors, controllers, powerful media servers etc.

Title: TOUCHDESIGNER ADVANCED WORKSHOP: GEOMETRY SHADERS
Dates: Sunday August 19, from 10 AM to 5 PM
Location: SAT Campus | 1201, Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montréal (Québec) H2X 2S6 Canadas
Language of instruction: English (The instructor is bilingual and can answer questions asked in French.)
Instructor: Quentin Bleton
Training type: Hands-on workshop
Experience Level: Beginner
Registration deadline: August 11, 2018.
Standard rate: 240.00 $ (tax not applicable) - Inscription
Artist* or student**: 210.00 $ (tax not applicable) - Inscription
Focus: This advanced TouchDesigner workshop of 6 hours will delve into the world of geometry shaders. Tapping into the power of geometry shaders for generating dynamic geometries, participants will learn how to maximize the amount of points that can be visualized in real time, while making it possible to parameter the nature of these geometries and record them by using TOP control textures. Using shaders enables all the processing to be done on the GPU without any of the CPU constraints traditionally dictated by SOP.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES & COURSE CONTENT
• Show a maximum of points with optimal performance ;
• Learn a workflow based on image + TOP ;
• Save animated point clouds as video ;
• Generate geometries on the fly directly from the GPU, from point clouds : lines, triangles, cubes and their variations ;
• Discover illustrations and examples using a Kinect ;
• Saving a SOP animation as video and using playback on the GPU ;
• Rendering acceleration ;
• Sorting on the GPU and application for plexus-like effects ;
• Generating oriented sprites and textures on the GPU.
