WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
TouchDesigner is a graphical programming environment designed for generating real-time visuals and interactive work. Whether you're spicing up your VJ set, creating an audio-visual performance from scratch, videomapping architecture, making trippy VR experiences, or creating mind blowing interactive installations, TouchDesigner is a versatile creative toolkit that allows endless possibilities. The software is compatible with most of the latest sensor technology (HTC Vive, Oculus, Kinect, RealSense, LeapMotion) and many communication protocols (MIDI, OSC, DMX, TCP/IP, UDP) making it a future proof platform for your craziest performances and installation projects!

We'll go over the basics of a full 3D scene setup in TouchDesigner including Geometry, Camera, Lighting, Materials and 2D effects. We will then explore some powerful ways to animate it. This setup is meant to be expandable so you can keep building around it.

Title: TOUCHDESIGNER FOR CREATIVE PERFORMANCE WITH MAOTIK
Instructors: Mathieu Le Sourd aka maotik
Dates: May 26, 2017 11:00 - 13:00
Location: Mapping Festival, Geneva Switzerland
Level: Beginners
Focus: Digital media offer a wide range of possibilities to bring out the relationship between sound and image, allowing music to be experienced as a full audiovisual experience. From 360° projections to mapping or light architecture, multimedia artist Maotik masters the art to sublime live music through image and light.
This masterclass will teach you techniques to analyse sound features such as frequencies, tempo and other music gestures. By using software such as Ableton Live, Reaktor and Max for Live, you will learn how to break down a music composition for visualisation purpose. Sound data will be communicated through OSC to TouchDesigner in order to process reactive generative visuals. During this demo, you will also learn how to build a user interface or connect your Midi controller to manipulate your effects and perform live.
