GB space recommendations for Mac - bootcamp

Postby eddie_eduardo » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:00 pm

Hi all,

definitely a fresh fish!
i am about to bootcamp my Mac and was wondering how many GB should i partition to run Derivative. I am truly a beginner at the software so for now i will just be "playing" around with it and not doing anything heavy.

also as i will be running TouchDesgner with a Mac, is there a Windows OS that is better than another?

much thanks
ee

Go with Windows7 and install the 64bit version.

How much size you need is entirely up to you and how many other programs you will be running on that partition. I have found Windows 7 alone takes up to 20GB and that is what Microsoft calls for in system requirements. I wouldn't go with less than 30GB, more if you can afford it. External drives are an option for running your TouchDesigner projects and associated media.

TouchDesigner only takes up around ~150MB.
