@ruigato re: the Record CHOP losing its contents when pasting. Try locking it before you move it somewhere else.

sounds messy needing three touch processes. I sometimes separate audio from video stuff to avoid glitchiness.

@rod

yep, the lock did the trick, thank you! :)

seems like you do have to lock the record CHOP if you want to keep the data after closing the session and opening again..
too bad I didn't lock the recordings with the actors and the kinect from the last session.. next time will do

the limitation of skeleton tracking only on the first kinect is what makes me use the three processes, maybe I should use two processes only, going to try that and see if performance gets better!

cheers,

you can lock and unlock operators using the opset command

try locking one of the record CHOPs

if the CHOP is called record1, for example

then use opscript record1 to see what's needed to get it into that state.

you'll see that opset -l on record1 will lock it and opset -l off record1 will unlock it again.

using opscript, you can then figure out how to make your own super-duper kinect recorder (then post it on the forum so the rest of us don't have to make one :)

hey Malcolm,
is it safe to install 1.5 of of the runtime? I have not tried it with Touch yet.

also, anyone have tips for getting rid of the old hack drivers like CL-NUI and openkinect etc.?

my laptop just can't work with the new kinect because there's some residual stuff interfering.

It's driving me nuts.

Two questions:

1. anyone tried the 1.5 sdk and runtime. did it work okay with Touch?

2. anyone else have trouble running kinect for windows after having CL-N"UI and other hacky things installed for the xbox360 kinect? if so did oyu manage to clean it up properly? I'm still stuck (keen to get my laptop working to test question1 without screwing up my desktop trying it out. :)

Okay, answering my own questions from above...

question 1: I just installed 1.5 after removing 1.0. It seems to work fine so far. Of course Touch at this time of writing only supports 1.0 features but it seems not to mind 1.5 being there instead so Microsoft seem to have made good their promise of 1.5 not breaking anything written in 1.0.

question2: kinect suddenly started working. I think it may have been because I found and removed some shortcuts to open kinect or CL-NUI (forget which) in the start menu that might've been interfering with the driver install process.

With the 1.5 sdk release, the face tracking looks like tons of fun. Any future plans to enable face tracking inside of touch? Or has anyone figured a work around?

this looks good for those who have th eold XBox Kinect instead of the k4W
http://kinectar.org/

Because he uses OSCeleton to interface with the Kinect, it should be possible to make a little patch in touch to re-route the kinect data to OSC. Of course, touch can also send midi so it might be better to make your own entirely.

However, it looks like he has put a lot of work into his GUI to make hooking it up to synths relatively easy. Check out his organ piece later in this video... http://youtu.be/xEMbjnTJCHM
