some distinction between active and selected ops...

Postby rodberry » Thu Apr 26, 2012 5:40 am

There is some overlap between the concept of the current active OP tile and a tile in a selected state. I notice that this bugs beginners.

A case where this is annoying is this:
in a network with many operators present, press the 'delete' key
the active OP is deleted and another becomes active.
hold down the 'delete' key for a few seconds and watch the fun ...
Of course you'd saved it already, right? :)

If there must always an active operator at any moment - arbitrarily assigned if neccessary, must it also be selected ready for any operation such as 'delete' to be applied without the explicit selection by the user?

Rod. (8 years? and still a beginner)

In this case, might be easier if the delete Key repeat is deactivated internally somehow.
Does the undo function (ctrl+z) work properly in this instance?
Cheers

yes I think ctl-z works in this case.

I am just wondering if it's necessary for the active node to also be automatically selected as well for such operations as delete. beginners I have seen click in empty space and assume that means nothing is selected th. I'll ask then about the steps they take that lead to annoyance and get back to you.

it just seems that activeness and selectedness usually go hand in hand but can sometimes lead to deletedness. etc. :)
