Quadro FX 5500 Not Working

Postby jeff8houses » Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:20 pm

I just built up a new system since I was given a Quadro FX 5500 to play with. The system is an Intel I5 2500K, 8 Gb 1600 RAM, Asus Mobo and of course the FX 5500 with Windows 7 64-bit. I'm running with the Quadro 295.73 drivers as they are the most recent.

With this I'm getting a whopping <1 fps on the startup .toe. It's just a complete dog. I've done some searching and found that folks were using older drivers, but the posts I could find were a couple years old. It seems like this would've been remedied by now.

Does anyone out there have a current Quadro working? Any settings I can tweak? Thanks so much!

Hey Jeff, I would try the 275 series drivers to see how they work. Sorry to say though that the Quadro 5500 is the same speed as a Geforce 7900GTX. With the other nice parts you bought you may want to consider getting a newer Geforce for as low as $100 which will actually be quite a bit faster than the Quadro 5500.

That' doesn't explain why it's running at <1 fps so I'll still try and find a 5500 around the office and try to reproduce your issue. It's very possible it's a driver issue that came with the newer drivers.

Thanks Malcom. I was wondering if there was something weird going on there. It was given to me for free out of a pile of retired FX 5500, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I tried all the other versions of the drivers to no avail. Oh well. I'll probably have to just drop the coin on a more modern card. Thanks for the reply!
