Speed and Slope CHOP

Postby rurik » Fri Aug 10, 2012 7:39 pm

I've been trying to understand how the Speed and Slope CHOP work in combo, but having a hard time...
I think I don't really understand what either of those do individually...Or at least I can't find values that make sense. I read the docs and watched the videos, but it is just not making sense...
Does anybody have a layman's explanation?

Thanks!
Alex

Since this question might be a bit too general, here is an example...
I'm following a tutorial where the mouse x and mouse y (uv) movements are being used to drive the rotation of a camera.
The technique used in the tutorial is to pipe the u and v values into a Slope CHOP and then into a Speed CHOP.
However the reasoning behind the choice of these nodes is not very well explained.

I'm going to keep looking for other examples of Speed CHOP usage to see if they help clarify the purpose, but would love any pointers

Thanks
Alex
