Read data out of DMX in chop

Hi Guys,

My first baby steps in TD and loving it. Im an animator and lighting designer and have been wating for a intuetive realtime editing enviroment for ages and i think i have found my match. Very pleased.

In my work I do a lot with artnet etc and wanted to expirement a litle with driving functions in TD with my lighting desk. Got everything up and running but got stuck at the last part.

The artnet travels from one comp to another. I can see the artnet commming in on my TD computer on my Chamsys artnet monitor. (this is outside of TD) When I make a "dmx in chop" I dont see any " horizontal lines moving" like when I run midi into a "midi in chop"; so I can't select a individual dmx channel to read and to connect to a parameter. But when I connect the "DMX in chop" to a "math chop" the noodle in between is animated and this is an indication that data is flowing between the to operators right? or not?

My questions:
- is artnet data indeed entering TD or should I see the animated horizontallines as you get when running midi into the midi in chop?

-If data is indeed entering: how do i read data from individual dmx channels? Do need an other operator to split the individual artnet adresses?

Hm, no reactionsssss....

Second night and a second attempt. Now trying the other way around. Ive got the "dmx out chop" sending artnet and receive the artnet in my artnet monitor. Hurray! sadly, No luck on the input side. Further more: i cant change the adres im sending to!? strangely enough the adres field is called "Net" but when I change this value it does not change the adres im sending to...

Would really appreciate some help on my previous question and an explanation on the NET vs adres field thingy?

I don't really know much about DMX but it sounds like your device isn't connecting. I'm pretty sure your referring to channels when you talk about the horizontal lines in the DMX in chop, which when I load the DMXin chop has 513 channels with no devices connected. So if your not seeing any of the channels change value (in the DMXin chop) when you operate your desk then you don't have a connection. Also make sure you zoom in on the DMX chop to be able to see the channels change.

When I make a midi in chop and zoom in i see channel numbers, note numbers, the divider lines and when i have my midi keyboard connected and touch some keys I see the animated signal bars.
When I zoom in on the DMX in chop I see the vertical divider lines but no channel numbers or channel bars. Does this mean im not connected? This is a little strange because I know that the artnet signal is reaching my TD computer system. I see the signal in my artnet monitor. Maybee i need to make some global adjustments in TD itself to receive artnet? I looked in the prefs menu and could not find anything

Got it working!

It was the NET setting which was confusion me. Normally in dmx you have 3 parameters to set: Adres, universe and subnet. I confused the net setting with the adres setting. Is this net setting part of Artnet 2.0 maybe?

Ok, got it working and thought lets do some more tuts before I go bother you guys anymore. Been trough all the general tuts and stil have one question about reading and filtering data out of the dmx in Chop:

The dmx in Chop contains all the 512 dmx channels and their values of the selected dmx universe. If I connect the dmx in Chop to a math Chop it also contains all the 512 dmx channels but what if i want to export only 1 dmx channel and its value to a math Chop; how would i need to do this?
