simulating video

i'm working on a little project for fun that i call "videoclavier" which is designed to respond to a standard midi controller piano... the idea is that you play music and it does stuff. it's not ready yet for release but here's some shots i thought were kinda nice. (these are straight from touch, no post processing) it's your typical 80's retro computer gak! cyber grids coming soon.

p.s. here's the tox i made to simulate various optical effects and VHS garbage. it includes a couple of very handy bloom and convolution filters i picked up on "the net".

I wanna see floating reflective spheres over an infinite chequerboard.

I guess my eyes are getting too old for color-cycling mandelbrot sets tho ...

hmmm... actually TOX that makes indexed color palettes with cheesy color-cycling built in would be great fun.

haha!

funny you should mention it, on friday i made a color cycling dolphin patch in touch to make some of the guys at work crack up. it's actually pretty easy to do in touch... i made my indexed color ramp in photoshop first and then saved the original image with the indices in the luminance channel.... wa-la! all you need then is a lookup top and an x transform on the palette.

in any case, if you like that, check out what i'm posting in the gallery now!
