... you hook stuff up from a component to a multi input node like math or merge - invariably the name inside that component was 'out' and it gets hard ... nodes that it gives the name of the parent compenent and the 'out' chop inside it? eg instead of a list of 5 'outs' in a merge it would be /blahnode/out ...

1. put down a Constant CHOP and put 'chan1' and 'chan2' in the channel name fields. 2. append a Math CHOP and ... it should only get added to chan1 workaround is to just use separate math CHOPs and merge them later.
