Re: Force Script DAT to cook every frame. Or: how to skip fr

You might consider using a TopToCHOP first. There's an optimization approach here that provides the data a frame behind the current frame that's rendering allowing the download from the GPU to speed up significantly. You can also use the TopToCHOP to isolate a specific pixel, row, ...

Re: Fastest Method for Accessing CHOP Samples

Post the function in your Execute DAT for better idea of what it's doing.
If its all numeric values, can you convert to CHOPs, and Lookup CHOP?

But generally, its better to stick to operators for maximum speed, even a custom shader for some intensive processes.

Re: Xbox Kinect & Video TimeRemaping?

I dont see any problem for that. i am far away from my kinect but if you have, for example, head z coords, you can use Math CHOP Range parameters to scale it and then use the value in Moviefilein TOP Speed parameter.
You must use a non temporally compressed Codec as HAP, not H264.

Re: Particle Age Alpha

... lack of experience), but I know for big operations like this, it would speed things up dramatically. Thanks for the advice about going out to a CHOP- it seems pretty odd that that's more efficient, but I believe you!

Re: Calculating velocity/acceleration

Thank you! Did not know the 'slope' chop existed... I am seeing some of the same artifacts but far less. Anyone have any ideas of why it would be doing this? Here's how the data looks. First column is speed, second acceleration. Sometimes I get weird little blips in acceleration and/or ...
